Staying in shape while traveling can be a challenge. Eating healthy on the road is hard and maintaining an exercise program can even be more cumbersome, but there are tons of people who travel every week and keep in top shape, so it's possible and I am here to tell you how!
Keep your road trip from becoming a guilt trip. Return from your travels as fit or fitter than the day you left.
Make a commitment to eating healthy foods while you travel by adhering to the following guidelines:
- Drink 8 glasses of water a day.
- Ask the front desk to remove items from your snack bar.
- Avoid eating after 9pm
- Pack protein bars or have fruit handy for snacks.
- Avoid creamy dressings, which can easily add 20-40 grams of fat to the dish.
- Just because there is food left pon your plate, doesn't mean you need to eat it all.
- Eat breakfast. Research has shown that those who eat breakfast in the morning, often eat less calories throughout the day than those who don't eat breakfast.
- Avoid donuts and sugary sweets at meetings. Theses foods will often cause you to be tired and lead to sugar and fatty cravings throughout the day.
- If you wouldn't eat it at home, don't eat it while you are traveling.
- Think of food as fuel. If you eat healthy, you will feel healthy!!!!
